Job summary

South Coast Nursing Homes, based in Worthing, Sussex, is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our team. You will perform reactive maintenance across our nine homes, with travel between sites in a company van. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, with an on-call rota.

DBS check is required. Reporting to the Head of Estates and Health and Safety, you’ll bring proven maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical basics, carpentry and decorating, plus good IT skills and a proactive

Qualifications

  • Practical hands-on maintenance experience in plumbing.
  • Basic electrics skills.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Experience of painting and decorating.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive approach and the ability to act on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Full clean driver’s licence; role involves travelling between sites in a company van.
  • Comfortable using computers and mobile devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality reactive maintenance across our care and nursing homes.
  • Work on project work as needed across sites.
  • Report to the Head of Estates and Health & Safety.
  • Maintain facilities to a high standard and prioritise tasks with customers in mind.
  • Participate in on-call rota as required.
