Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking experienced Kitchen Assistants for care home settings in Burton-On-Trent and surrounding areas. Opportunities range from a few shifts to regular temporary work, with weekly pay and flexible assignments to match your availability.

You will support the kitchen team with meal preparation, serving residents, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety across different care home environments.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS verification required.
• Experience as Kitchen Assistant or similar.
• Experience in care homes or healthcare desirable.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Aware of allergies and dietary requirements.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible approach to temporary agency work.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Prepare ingredients, snacks, drinks and simple food items.
• Serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist with setting up and clearing dining and kitchen areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment.
• Follow food hygiene and safety procedures at all times.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Support the kitchen team during busy meal services.
• Follow instructions regarding residents' dietary requirements, allergies and texture-modified meals.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

About the Role

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Kitchen Assistants to work within care home settings across Burton-On-Trent and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or more regular temporary work, we have assignments available to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistants who enjoy working as part of a busy catering team. You will support the kitchen with the preparation and service of meals, helping to ensure residents receive a high standard of food and service.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Enhanced DBS
• Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Porter or similar.
• Experience within care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other catering environments is desirable.
• A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• An awareness of allergies and specialist dietary requirements.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
• A reliable, hardworking and positive approach.
• The ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
• A flexible approach to temporary and agency work.
