Job summary

Midlands Care is seeking a dedicated Cook for Whetstone Grange in Leicestershire. You will lead the catering service, plan menus with residents, and prepare meals that meet dietary needs while upholding safety and cleanliness standards.

The role requires previous kitchen experience, strong cooking skills for diverse diets, and a caring, resident-focused approach aligned with Midlands Care values. Training in food hygiene, health & safety, and dementia awareness is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally within a care home or catering setting.
• Strong cooking ability for diverse dietary needs.
• Excellent planning, time-management and stock-handling skills.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Compassionate, resident-focused approach aligned with our values.

Responsibilities

• Menu planning with residents, Home Manager and kitchen team.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals to a high standard.
• Manage stock levels and place orders under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, compliant kitchen following regulations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report faults.
• Support residents’ wellbeing through catering.
• Engage in ongoing training and development.
