Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Paediatric, Neonatal & Young People Care Group. You will have delegated responsibilities in supporting the Care Group Manager/Deputy Care Group Manager and clinical teams with a wide range of operational and administrative duties including oversight of the 18 week RTT pathways and access processes, there will be overall line management responsibilities of a team of medical secretaries and ward administration staff together with project support and data collection against performance targets as required.

This is the perfect role for those wishing to progress into a first line management role, the post holder will be a key member of the Care Group Team and will share our commitment to delivering the best possible care to the patients we serve.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting with the management of the day to day delivery of an effective and efficient patient focused service:

  • Providing business support to the Care Group including monitoring of RTT targets where appropriate.
  • To manage the work of an administrative function.
  • To carry out administrative tasks.
  • The post holder will be accountable for own actions and to manage their own workload.
  • To provide day to day line management to the admin team and provide support and cover for other administrative services within the Care Group.

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • To communicate information with patients, relatives and staff on a variety of departmental matters and procedures
  • To communicate complicated administrative information to staff from other departments, external contacts
  • To communicate complex, sensitive, contentious information with a range of stakeholders, where persuasion or negotiation is required
  • To exercise judgements when dealing with the analysis of business performance information and decisions to ensure targets are achieved.

  • To manage a service/project and to ensure that targets are met.
  • May need to communicate with patients, but on non-clinical matters (i.e. appointment times, provide directions or explain local procedures)

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • NVQ in Business administration
  • Experiencing of leading a team
  • Experience of working within a busy office environment
  • Experience in creating comprehensive draft reports and data analysis
Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of administration processes, project management and information analysis systems
  • Understanding of service redesign and transformation
  • oUnderstanding and experience of financial controls and budgetary management
