Job description
About the role

Are you the kind of person who thrives on juggling a million moving parts - and still makes it look effortless? Choices Homecare are looking for an experienced Care Co-ordinator/Scheduler to join our busy Halifax branch. This is one of the most fast-paced and critical roles in our business, the heartbeat that keeps our care delivery running smoothly. You'll be the link between our care workers, clients, and managers — planning, adjusting, and firefighting (sometimes all at once!) to make sure every visit happens when and where it should. It's challenging, reactive, and never the same two days in a row, but it's also deeply rewarding, knowing that your quick thinking keeps people safe and supported in their own homes.

Choices Homecare is proudly part of Optimo Care Group – a family of care providers united by one purpose: to make every day the best it can be for the people we support. With over 1,500 dedicated colleagues, we work closely with local authorities, healthcare professionals, and families to deliver high-quality, outcome-focused care that helps individuals live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Building, managing, and updating care worker schedules in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
  • Reacting calmly and quickly to last-minute changes, sickness, and emergencies, while keeping clients informed and services covered.
  • Planning ahead to anticipate staffing needs, holidays, and gaps before they happen.
  • Supporting new starters, ensuring they’re integrated smoothly into the rota.
  • Working closely with branch management to meet compliance, continuity, and quality standards.
  • Flexibility to be part of the on-call rota to provide occasional support outside standard hours if the service requires.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in care coordinating, scheduling, or workforce planning (care experience strongly preferred).
  • Composed and resilient under pressure – able to make fast, confident decisions and adapt quickly when plans change.
  • A master multitasker with strong IT and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communicator, both on the phone and in writing.
  • A problem-solver with a "can do" attitude and a knack for keeping calm when others panic.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car (30p per mile mileage).
  • Candidates must have current and valid permission to work in the UK. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
