A care support organization is seeking a Care Assistant to support a young man near Barnard Castle. The role involves personal care, PEG feeding, and assisting with therapies. Training is provided, and no prior experience is necessary, but a full UK driving license and a personal car are required. Competitive pay at £13 per hour with flexible shift patterns available.
Global Hypoxic brain injury sustained in 2023, the young man has complex care needs, including a need for airway support, PEG feed, manual handling, hoisting and positioning, and a daily personal care routine.
Hours / Wage: Hours per week negotiable, rate of pay £13 per hour.
12‑hour shifts 0800–2000 and 2000–0800. The shift pattern is negotiable; you will work alongside other carers, generally either day or night shifts unless you are willing to do both.
Duties: Supporting the young man in his daily care needs with everything from personal care to hoisting, washing and support with basic therapies.
Additional Requirements / Information: Training will be given. No experience required – just a willingness to learn and work as part of a team, taking time to understand this young gentleman.
Transportation: Due to location and lack of public transport, a driving licence and use of a car are required, though support with transport may be available for the right candidate.
Care will be centred around the young man’s family home.
Enhanced DBS will be required; employer will cover the cost.
