Job summary

Easteden Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join Owen Mor Care Centre Londonderry in Northern Ireland. You will provide compassionate, resident-centred care and support daily living activities, helping residents maintain independence and dignity in a warm, safe environment.

You will work with nursing and care teams to deliver high-quality care, document observations, and participate in handovers and continuous improvement. Full training is provided and teamwork is essential.

About the Role

As a Care Assistant, you will provide compassionate, high-quality and person-centred care and support to residents living within the Home.

You will play an important role in supporting residents with their daily living activities, wellbeing, independence and quality of life while helping create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals feel valued, respected and supported.

Working closely with nursing, care and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to positive resident experiences and the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality and person-centred care tailored to individual resident needs and preferences.
• Support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living activities.
• Promote dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing at all times.
• Observe and report changes in resident wellbeing appropriately.

Meaningful Engagement & Daily Living Support

• Support residents to participate in meaningful activities, social engagement and positive daily experiences.
• Encourage confidence, independence and social connection.
• Assist residents to maintain routines, preferences and individual interests.
• Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive Home environment.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with nursing, care, activities, catering, housekeeping and wider teams.
• Participate positively in handovers, meetings and communication processes.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with residents, families and visitors.
• Escalate concerns, incidents or safeguarding matters appropriately.

Safety, Governance & Professional Standards

• Deliver care in accordance with care plans, risk assessments and organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Follow safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety and moving and handling procedures.
• Support a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.

• Experienced within care, healthcare, community support, unpaid caring responsibilities or volunteering activities would be beneficial

Required Criteria

• GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent qualification); OR demonstrable literacy, numeracy and communication skills appropriate to the role.
• Willingness to achieve and maintain NISCC registration.
• Ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care and support tailored to individual resident needs and preferences.
• Ability to support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, social and emotional wellbeing needs.

Desired Criteria

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
• Previous experience supporting vulnerable adults within a care, healthcare, community or informal caring setting.
• Experience supporting individuals living with dementia, mental health conditions, behavioural support needs or complex care needs.
• Experience supporting wellbeing, activities or social engagement initiatives.
