Job summary

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust is seeking Care Assistants to join the nights team at Hartrigg Oaks, New Earswick, York. If you are compassionate, reliable and enjoy supporting older people to maintain independence, this role offers a chance to make a tangible difference in a close-knit retirement community.

Hours are 33 per week, with a pay rate of £13.87 to £14.53 per hour plus a 10% enhancement for night hours (11pm–7am). DBS check and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

  • Right to work in the UK is required.
  • DBS check will be conducted for regulated activity.
  • Care experience or recent paid/voluntary care work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with day-to-day tasks and personal care during night shifts.
  • Support independence and maintain residents' comfort and safety.
  • Reflect the Trust's values in all interactions with residents and relatives.

Location: Hartrigg Oaks, New Earswick, York

Hours: 33 hours per week

Salary: £13.87 to £14.53 per hour (depending on qualifications) PLUS 10% enhancement for hours between 11pm and 7am

Hartrigg Oaks is a continuing care retirement community enabling people aged 60 plus to remain independent and live life to the full. Along with assisting residents and helping with day-to-day tasks, you’ll really get to know the people you support and become a familiar face to them and their relatives.

Essential Requirements
  • Right to Work – sponsorship is not available for these roles, you must have the legal right to work in the UK
  • DBS – these roles will be subject to a successful DBS check that covers regulated activity
  • Care experience – at least 6 months experience providing personal care and support in a paid or voluntary care setting
