Job summary

Alexander Care Home in Bury is seeking a Care Assistant to join our friendly team. The role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care to residents, supporting daily living activities and promoting dignity and independence, with 12-hour shifts from 8am to 8pm.

We offer ongoing training, development opportunities and a clear progression path into senior care roles. The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and includes some holiday cover.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivering person-centred care.
• Awareness of safeguarding principles.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends/bank holidays.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents.
• Support and assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
• Support residents with mobility, transferring and repositioning.
• Support residents with eating, drinking, and nutrition, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and conversation.
• Assist with medication (if trained) in line with policies and under supervision.
• Maintain accurate care records and complete daily documentation; report concerns to senior staff.
• Promote dignity, independence and wellbeing always.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and families to ensure the best outcomes for residents.

Who We Are

Alexander Care Home is a welcoming, residential care home in Bury, supporting up to 31 residents. We provide high-quality care for adults aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia. Our team is passionate about creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where residents feel valued and cared for.

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Care Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team at Alexander Care Home. The role offers 22-33 hours per week, working 12-hour shifts from 8am to 8pm, including public holidays and some weekends.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and is looking to grow within the adult social care sector. There is a clear pathway for progression into senior care roles for the right candidates.

As a Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents, promoting their dignity, independence, and well-being. You will support residents with their daily living activities while ensuring they receive compassionate care in a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Understands person-centred care and safeguarding principles.
• Holds a Care Certificate or Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care (desirable but not essential), willingness to work towards a qualification if no qualification is held.
• Has an awareness of moving and handling.
• Has the flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Is kind, patient, respectful and empathetic with a genuine passion for supporting others
• Has strong communication, record-keeping and teamwork skills
• Is reliable and committed to delivering high standards of care
• Is comfortable with supporting with personal care needs and supporting people with dementia
