Job summary

TLC Care in Cambridge is looking for compassionate Healthcare Assistants to provide person-centred care to residents, helping maintain dignity and independence in a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care to residents (washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility).
  • Support residents' physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Assist with mealtimes, meeting dietary and swallowing needs.
  • Maintain dignity, privacy and independence in care.
  • Maintain daily care records and documentation.
  • Help residents take part in activities and social events.
  • Assist with appointments, hospital visits, or outings.
  • Keep rooms tidy and environment clean and safe.
  • Welcome visitors and create a warm environment for residents and families.

We are looking for caring and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our friendly team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care to our residents, helping them maintain their dignity, independence, and quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.

This role includes working days and night shift. Weekend working is also required on a rota basis, so flexibility is essential.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

  • Provide personal care, including assisting residents with washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility.
  • Support residents with their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Assist residents during mealtimes, ensuring dietary needs and swallowing requirements are safely met.
  • Promote dignity, independence, privacy, and respect in all aspects of care.
  • Maintain accurate daily care records and documentation.
  • Support residents to take part in activities, hobbies, and social events.
  • Assist residents attending appointments, hospital visits, or community outings where required.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment, including making beds, cleaning equipment, and ensuring residents' rooms are tidy.
  • Welcome visitors and provide a warm, friendly environment for residents and their families.
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • You don't have to have previous experience as you will receive full training, but you must have compassion, dedication and a genuine interest in the people you care for.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work predominantly night shifts, with occasional day shifts if required, and weekends on a rota basis.
