Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Cardiology Pre-assessment Nurse Practitioner to join the Cardio Thoracic Nurse Case manager team. The role involves independent practice under supervision, competency-based patient assessments, and planning pre-operative care for cardiac patients.

The successful candidate will provide pre-operative assessments for cardiac surgery and interventions, liaise with consultants and MDTs, and contribute to improved patient pathways

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse on relevant part of the NMC register.
• Evidence of on-going personal development.
• Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma).
• Evidence of supporting learners in practice.
• Basic keyboard skills with knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
• History taking and Physical Assessment experience / course and competencies.

Responsibilities

• Work as an independent Practitioner under the supervision of the Senior Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Case Manager or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP).
• Undertake competency-based patient assessment and examination to formulate a management plan for cardiothoracic surgical patients.
• Prepare patients prior to surgery and cardiology interventions and highlight potential complications to the team.
