Job description
Cardiac MRI Radiographer – FlexiBank

One Ashford Hospital has a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join our friendly team. This is a FlexiBank role working on an "as and when required" basis; you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff during periods of annual leave or absence.

As an experienced Cardiac MRI Radiographer you will provide high quality diagnostic radiography services to our patients and referrers, organising and performing a full range of MRI procedures. We are looking for a highly committed individual who is flexible and proactive with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Diagnostic Imaging.

Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, you will manage the day-to-day running of Cardiac MRI lists. You will work autonomously to complete a wide range of imaging while providing clinical leadership to junior radiographers and sharing your expertise with junior colleagues.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide MRI and general radiology services and ensure compliance with IR(ME)R regulations.
  • Assume professional responsibility for the delivery of patient care in the Imaging and Theatre department.
  • Deliver a high standard of individualised patient care, being sensitive to patients’ needs for dignity and privacy.
  • Ensure that the agreed standards of patient care and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with company policies.
  • Promote clinical excellence at all times.
  • Lead the implementation of departmental action plans as a result of clinical audit and review.
Knowledge
  • Clinical experience and a sound knowledge of NHS/Private hospital protocols and practices, minimum 5 years post qualification.
  • Competence in MRI scanning and Cardiac MRI scanning.
  • Enhanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to support emergency pathways and elective plain film imaging.
  • Advanced knowledge of MRI safety guidelines, their implementation and implication.
  • Decision making skills and responsibility in a clinical area (e.g., equipment, QA, training, protocols, rota, students, H&S, quality, staff resources, paediatrics).
  • Recent history of working in the UK health sector.
Qualifications
  • BSc Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • CPD evidence.
  • Attendance at relevant study days/short courses.
Desirable
  • IV cannulation.
  • Relevant special/clinical interest group membership.
  • In possession of or working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification.
Experience
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and independently as required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in the area of clinical practice.
  • Experience of working in an imaging department with the opportunity to consolidate skills.
Skills

  • Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems PACS/RIS.
