Job description
Overview

Our client, a cattle ranching operation, is pioneering a sustainable approach to beef production by integrating rotational grazing practices that generate carbon credits. Rather than selling standalone offsets, the client aims to bundle the carbon benefits of their grazing program directly with their beef products—allowing wholesale beef buyers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions through insetting within their own value chains.

Our client is seeking a carbon insetting expert to design and advise on the optimal structure, methodology, and implementation approach for this innovative carbon-beef linkage model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a framework to quantify, verify, and bundle carbon sequestration benefits from rotational grazing practices with the beef supply chain.
  • Advise on insetting methodologies and alignment with major carbon accounting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, Verra, Gold Standard, etc.).
  • Identify best practices for measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of carbon benefits within agricultural and livestock systems.
  • Support the creation of buyer-facing materials that communicate the carbon value proposition and emissions reduction impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., auditors, certifiers, buyers) to ensure credibility and scalability of the program.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in carbon insetting, carbon credit program design, or sustainability strategy within agriculture, livestock, or land-use sectors.
  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting principles, lifecycle analysis (LCA), and supply chain emissions (Scope 3).
  • Experience with sustainability certifications or carbon standards relevant to agriculture.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus, though not required.

Start: ASAP

Duration: Several months (flexible based on consultant approach and progress)

Time commitment: TBD, not full time

Location: Primarily or fully remote. The ranch is located in South America, and ideally the consultant is open to an in-person visit (not required)
