About the role

This is a pivotal opportunity to shape and govern the capital investment programme at Manchester Airport. You will develop the airport's five-year and 25-year investment plans, bringing together priorities from asset plans, masterplans, growth ambitions and operational needs.

With an annual capital programme of approximately £180 million and up to 100 projects initiated each year, you will help determine how investment is prioritised, approved and delivered to achieve the best overall value.

Working across Asset Management, Capital Delivery, Finance, Technology, Property and airport leadership, you will help ensure that capital investment supports safe and compliant operations, long-term asset health, business growth and an excellent guest experience.

What will make a successful candidate
  • Strong experience in planning, governing and running complex capital programmes.
  • Qualification in asset management or finance would be beneficial, along with experience in analysing and managing data sets
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to balance competing priorities, commercial considerations and complex relationships.
  • Strong leadership capability, including experience of influencing and leading indirect or cross-functional teams to deliver results.
  • The ability to develop structured, well-resourced plans and translate strategic priorities into deliverable investment programmes.
  • A collaborative, commercially aware approach, combined with a commitment to safety, integrity and high-quality delivery.
  • An improvement mindset, with an interest in emerging technologies and finding better ways to strengthen planning, governance and workflow effectiveness
Key responsibilities
  • Build and maintain Manchester Airport's five-year and 25-year capital investment plans, aligning programmes and schedules to maximise delivery efficiency.
  • Lead the investment prioritisation approach, ensuring consistent decision-making and value for money across all investment areas.
  • Take responsibility for the capital approvals process and its associated governance.
  • Formulate and manage the capital programme, balancing available budgets with service risk, growth, yield enhancement, safety and statutory compliance.
  • Develop investment forecasts and phasing plans that inform airport masterplans, maintenance strategies, business planning and alignment with the profit and loss plan.
  • Provide clear reporting on capital programme performance to senior airport, development and finance leaders.
  • Coordinate post-investment appraisals and produce the capital reporting required to support formal airline consultation and the setting of aviation charges and tariffs.
  • Govern the Minor Works process and lead ServiceNow process development and wider governance improvement initiatives.
What's in it for you
  • The opportunity to influence a capital programme of approximately £180 million per year and shape investment across one of the UK's major airports.
  • A highly visible role with access to senior airport, finance and development leaders.
  • The chance to influence long-term airport development through both five-year and 25-year planning.
  • Significant variety, with a programme spanning up to 100 individual projects each year.
  • The scope to improve investment governance, approvals, prioritisation and digital workflows.
  • A role that combines strategic planning, commercial decision-making, infrastructure investment and operational impact.
  • The opportunity to build broad experience by working across Asset Management, Capital Delivery, Finance, Technology, Property, Procurement and airport leadership.
  • The satisfaction of helping to create a safe, compliant, resilient and customer-focused airport asset base.
