Overview

Job Title: Professional Cantonese Interpreter
Role: Cantonese interpreter (Freelance / Self-Employed) with a focus on NHS, local authorities, legal, education, and private sector work. Based in Chesterfield or nearby areas.

About the role: Absolute Interpreting and Translations Ltd is a UK-based provider of face-to-face, telephone, and video remote interpreting services, working with NHS trusts, local councils, law firms, insurance companies, and private clients across the UK. We are recruiting Cantonese Interpreters to join our network of professional linguists.

Responsibilities

• Provide Cantonese interpretation for assignments across NHS hospitals and GP practices, social services and child protection, schools, solicitor appointments and court hearings, housing and council departments, and private sector consultations.
• Deliver interpretation services in person, by telephone, or via video remote interpreting where applicable.
• Support local communities by enabling clear and accurate communication in diverse settings.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Fluency in English and Cantonese.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Professional Interpreting Qualifications (e.g., Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to apply, DPSI, NRPSI registration, or equivalent experience).
• Professional references; proof of ID and address.
