Job summary

UK Home Office is recruiting a Dog Team Animal Care and Welfare Technician to support handlers and training instructors, monitor welfare, and ensure dogs receive proper exercise and enrichment. The role requires handling dogs, lifting and outdoor work in all weathers.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with or looking after animals in a professional capacity or hold an animal care/management qualification.
• Proven verbal communication skills to engage clearly with dogs, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Proven written communication skills with good attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team, while also working independently when required.
• Able to adapt to unexpected situations, troubleshoot issues and make informed decisions.
• Able to multi-task, work to tight deadlines and take responsibility for your work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record the welfare needs of each dog, ensuring appropriate exercise and enrichment.
• Support handlers and training instructors in welfare and day-to-day care.
• Provide daily exercise and care, including outdoor work in varying weather.
• Travel to other Border Force locations to undertake kennel duties as needed.
