Job description
Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Gynaecology Diagnostic Clinical Nurse Specialist on a fixed term (6-month) full time. Advert closes on Tuesday 11 November 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing support to Gynaecological patients in line with the broad aims of the NHS Cancer Plan.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills.
  • Educate and train patients and teams.
  • Be able to perform and lead on research and audit.
  • Work within Basildon Hospital and Thurrock Community Hospital.
  • Maintain high levels of empathy and reassurance when communicating sensitive condition-related information to patients and relatives.
  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure the patient pathway is co-ordinated and targets met.
  • Attend MDT meetings.
  • Undertake surveys or audits in own specialty.
  • Support the implementation of research and audit findings.
  • Coordinate clinical and support services relevant to patients.
  • Record concisely, accurately, confidentially and legibly the appropriate elements of history and results of investigations.
  • Interpret results of complex patient investigations and liaise with colleagues to plan treatment options.
  • Organise own specialist workload, including education & training, with ability to flexibly respond to changing situations.
  • Provide care through screening programmes, nurse-led clinics, accepting referrals, undertaking diagnostic procedures, undertaking therapeutic procedures, physical assessments and obtaining written consent to treatment.
  • Refer patients directly to specialists in other professions.
  • Provide expert specialist clinical advice for patients, carers and health care professionals.
Location and requirements
  • Role includes working at Basildon Hospital and Thurrock Community Hospital.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is required for this role.
