Overview

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Services Deputy Manager to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, personalised, holistic information and support to individuals affected by cancer and refer them to appropriate specialist support services within the skin cancer service.
  • Recruit, train, develop and support volunteers for the Macmillan Information and Support Service at Broomfield Hospital.
  • Act as deputy to the Macmillan Information and Support Manager and manage the centre in their absence.
  • Improve information and support for users and contribute to the cancer survivorship and self‑management agenda within the Trust and the local community.
  • Provide expert personalised support and information covering cancer treatment, supportive and palliative care, family/relationship support, stress management, lifestyle coaching, employment and benefits, and housing and legal issues.
  • Deliver expert information guidance to healthcare professionals and social care colleagues.
  • Support nurse‑led clinics in line with the skin cancer speciality service needs, including site‑specific clinics such as metastatic breast clinics or general holistic needs assessment clinics.
  • Develop a highly specialised programme for emotional support, wellbeing and healthy lifestyle in conjunction with the Macmillan Information Manager.
  • Recruit, train, manage and support a team of volunteers, ensuring the roles complement the centre’s support services.
  • Develop, monitor and implement quality standards and outcomes for volunteers within the Macmillan Information Centre.
  • Support run and maintain nurse‑led clinics in line with specialty service needs.
