Cancer Care Coordinator

Here within the Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we are looking to recruit a dynamic cancer care coordinator.

This post will be a 22.5 hours per week post based at York Hospital.

The role requires an administrator who can work autonomously and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. You must be equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers.

You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.

As part of the role you will:

Act as a main point of contact, providing a professional, proactive and sensitive service to cancer patients and their relatives. You will be responsible for the coordination of the administrative function within the complex cancer pathways arranging investigations, appointments and Multi-Disciplinary Team discussion in a timely manner to ensure waiting time targets are not breached and patient's needs are met.

Main duties of the job

About the Role

The post holder will provide a professional, proactive and sensitive service to cancer patients and their relatives. Will act as a main point of contact for patients, carers and wider healthcare team to provide (in conjunction with the Cancer Nurse Specialist), high quality patient care through proactive identification of needs which require a level of clinical knowledge utilising approved tools and procedures.

Collaborate and communicate with the wider healthcare team acting as a resource to ensure the provision of appropriate services to maximise the health and quality of life of the patient, improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of the administrative function within the complex cancer pathways arranging investigations, appointments and Multi-Disciplinary Team discussion in a timely manner to ensure waiting time targets are not breached and patient's needs are met. Will be expected to manage and prioritise the running of the service and work flexibly to the needs of the service, which can often be demanding and unexpected.
