Job summary

Wakefield CAMHS is seeking a Band 6 CAMHS Primary Practitioner to join our Primary Intervention Team on a 1-year fixed-term basis. This exciting post sits in the Single Point of Access, triaging and guiding young people and families to the right help at the right time.

You’ll bring experience in mental health, strong communication, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team. The role operates 09:00–17:00, with a focus on early intervention and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and adolescents in mental health.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment.
• Ability to work autonomously and in teams.
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
• Experience of multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Triaging calls and providing clinical guidance for children and families.
• Deliver brief interventions via primary intervention approach (2+1).
• Refer onward within Wakefield CAMHS or external services.
• Safeguard referrals where required and maintain risk assessments.
• Collaborate with Universal Services and CAMHS teams.
• Support training and supervision activities.
