East London NHS Foundation Trust is advertising two full-time positions in Newham CAMHS. The posts are for newly qualified or some post-qualification clinicians to deliver specialist CAMHS assessments and treatments for children and adolescents aged 6–18 within the Emotional & Behavioural (E&B) Team.
Roles include individual and group work, supervision, and duty-system responsibilities. We welcome those with experience in youth-focused services and a collaborative approach to community
We are advertising two full time posts. One is permanent and one is covering a secondment for 12 months, so is fixed-term. Both posts include half a day a week in the Youth Zones and are suited to newly qualified clinical or counselling psychologists and those with some post qualification experience to provide a specialist service within CAMHS to young people and their families within the Emotional and Behavioural (E&B) Team.
The post holders will be expected to conduct specialist CAMHS assessment and offer treatment (both individual and group) for young people aged 6-18 presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. Any Under fives experience is welcomed as we also have a brief intervention pathway for this age group within the E&B Team, but this is not an essential requirement for this post.
The postholders’ caseloads will include young people in the E&B team and on our green waiting list and include work in the Youth Zones.
The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. The role includes work with the wider network, being part of the duty system and supervisory responsibilities.
The E&B team works with young people across the age range with a wide range of presentations from moderate to severe mental illness, including those who have experienced trauma and abuse and those presenting with suicidality and self-harm. The E&B teams are composed of a mix of disciplines including Clinical Psychology, Family and Systemic Therapy, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Mental Health Nursing, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy and Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. There is a broad range of therapy groups offered and the post holder would be supported and encouraged to develop skills in group work, alongside individual casework.
Youth Zones work includes consultation to youth workers, working collaboratively with young people attending the service, and taking a community psychology and co-production approach.
This post is part of a comprehensive Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, within the East London NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is committed to tackling racism in all its forms and Newham CAMHS is a service committed to working with community partners and addressing inequalities.
The successful candidate will be part of a stimulating and supportive multidisciplinary team. There is a strong commitment to clinical supervision and professional development within CAMHS and the wider NHS Foundation Trust including many learning and teaching opportunities.
