Job description
CAMHS Practitioner

Southwark CAMHS are recruiting a CAMHS Practitioner with strong clinical skills for a fixed‑term 12‑month, 0.85 WTE post in the Neurodevelopmental Service. You will work alongside the Clinical Service Lead and a multidisciplinary team to support service delivery and provide high‑quality, evidence‑based assessment and treatments for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing your own clinical caseload and conducting assessments, including diagnostic assessments for ADHD.
  • Developing care plans and offering therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to support complex case management and provide consultation to colleagues and agencies.
  • Participating in ongoing training, supervision and leadership development.

To apply you must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) OR have an accredited professional training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or art therapy.
  • Have experience delivering mental health services to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities in diverse community settings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • First‑level nursing qualification/registration (RMN, RSCN, HV) or first‑level qualification in OT, social work, or equivalent with related CAMHS experience.
  • First‑level qualification in art, play, drama or music therapy with experience in the psychological aspects of caring for children and adolescents with mental health problems or developmental/learning disability issues.
Experience
  • Working with children and young people with mental health conditions, particularly those with neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Addressing diversity issues and working in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Managing complex cases in multidisciplinary networks.
  • Providing consultation to colleagues and agencies.
Knowledge / Skills
  • Specialist knowledge of the needs of children with mental health problems and their families, especially those with neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Knowledge of key legislation related to the client group and mental health issues.
  • Awareness of racial and diversity issues through relevant training.
  • Skills in providing professional advice and in clinical and non‑clinical report writing for multi‑agency purposes.
