Main duties of the job

It is an exciting time for the service as we grow and expand our offer to the young people and families of North Derbyshire. We are lucky enough to have a number of CAMHS services based in the same building, and as a core CAMHS worker you will liaise closely with them all. We pride ourselves on our multi‑disciplinary approach and you will become a key member of our specialist team. You will be working in a supportive and friendly environment with professionals from a variety of clinical backgrounds. You will receive regular clinical supervision, and the chance to consult with clinicians from our various pathways in order to help us deliver the best service we can.

As a Community CAMHS Mental Health Worker you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex young people with moderate to severe mental health disorders. You will carry out routine assessments, help young people to develop a collaborative care plan, and offer first‑level therapeutic interventions. You will offer screening for neurodevelopmental issues and make appropriate internal referrals in order to best support the young people we work with. The service offers a wide range of structured interventions such as CBT, systemic family therapy, DBT, IPT, and positive behaviour support, and there are regular opportunities to develop your own skills further by completing training both internally and externally.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., nursing, social work, OT or other allied health professional) with relevant mental health experience and valid/current registration with the associated professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC, SWE, BACP).
• Training in provision of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.
• Training in provision of Systemic Family Therapy.

Experience

• Post‑registration experience working within Child, Adolescent Mental Health or other relevant setting.
• Experience of mental health assessments and the implementation of a wide range of therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to manage a caseload autonomously.
• Experience teaching/training students and/or other disciplines.
• Experience working in CAMHS.
• Experience of service evaluation and audit.
• Experience of multi‑professional team work.

Skills and Knowledge

• Experience in provision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
• Experience in provision of Systemic Family Therapy.
• Qualities essential to clinical practice (e.g., respect, genuineness and personal integrity).
• Ability to manage own time effectively.
• Ability to liaise with other professionals.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Skills in supervision both as provider and recipient.
• Extensive knowledge base in Child & Adolescent Mental Health.
• Experience of using a variety of therapeutic methods/models.
• A grasp of relevant legislation and guidance (e.g., NHS Plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children’s Act, Education Act, Working Together, Children’s NSF, Every Child Matters etc).
