Job summary

North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an assistant psychologist to join the CAMHS Inpatient Unit, The Beacon Centre. The post involves assessment and evidence-based interventions for young people (13–18) under supervision, with a focus on risk management and collaborative care.

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health services for adolescents is preferred.
• Ability to contribute to risk assessment, safety planning and crisis management under supervision.
• Competence in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions with young people or parents.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and engage with wider networks.
• Quality Improvement (audit) and service development skills are desirable.
• Commitment to co-production and involving service users in service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support psychological assessment and care planning for young people in mental health crisis requiring hospital admission.
• Deliver individual and group psychologically informed interventions under supervision.
• Engage ward-based young people and implement CBT and emotional regulation approaches.
• Assist with risk assessment, safety planning and collaboration with the inpatient team.
• Use audit and service evaluation to inform service development.
• Contribute to MDT discussions and CPD sessions, and assist teaching where required.
• Support co-production, feedback from young people, and formulation/delivery of care plans.
• Coordinate and run psychological intervention groups.
