A leading health provider in mental health services is seeking a CAMHS Crisis Practitioner to join their team in Doncaster. The role involves providing crisis mental health assessments for children and young people, working in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. You will be expected to handle challenging situations while delivering essential mental health care and liaising with various agencies. Applicants need to have relevant professional qualifications and experience in crisis management and risk assessment. The position offers ongoing training and development opportunities.
The closing date is 02 January 2026
This is an exciting opportunity to transform the way in which Children and Young People's Emergency & Urgent Care is experienced by CYP and those who care for them across Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber. As part of the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24, RDaSH has undertaken the development of a crisis response service for CYP.
We are currently recruiting a number of enthusiastic and motivated clinicians to RDaSH's newly formed CYP Crisis Team. These dynamic team members will form part of our skilled, multidisciplinary team, and will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the service. Clinicians will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and experience in this area through the induction process, internal training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision.
The service operates 24/7 to provide crisis mental health assessment and interventions in a range of settings.
Clinical knowledge and relevant experience of assessing and managing risk within a mental health or social care setting is essential. Continuing support and development opportunities will be provided. Professional registration with HCPC, Social Work England or the NMC is required.
Key components of the role include comprehensive mental health risk assessment, planning crisis interventions, providing 7‑day follow‑ups and appropriately safeguarding young people. You will work collaboratively to promote safety and support young people and their family/carers through face‑to‑face work, via the Crisis Line and by utilising technology. The post also involves liaison with other services and external agencies to ensure effective pathways of care.
This is an extremely rewarding but challenging role. You will be working as part of a team and you will need a high level of emotional resilience to support young people and families at times of distress. You may also be required to work alone at times and need to prioritise work to remain flexible to meet the needs of the service. It is also essential that you have the ability to travel in order to attend assessments.
