About the Role

Full‑time Assistant Psychologist – Service for Complex Autism & Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorders (SCAAND) at the Michael Rutter Centre, Maudsley Hospital (Denmark Hill). The position supports the delivery of specialist multidisciplinary assessment, intervention and service evaluation for children and young people up to 18 years with neurodevelopmental conditions, comorbid mental health presentations and challenging behaviours.

Location and Travel

Based at the Michael Rutter Centre (Denmark Hill, ≈5 minutes from the train station) with occasional outreach to homes and sites across the London region. (Move to Pears Maudsley Children and Young People (PMCYP) at the Maudsley Hospital early 2026.)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with specialist applied psychology services under the direct supervision of a practitioner psychologist, including cognitive and neuropsychological assessments, behavioural observations and self‑report measures with clients and families.
  • Deliver protocol‑based individual psychological interventions (e.g., psychoeducation on neurodevelopmental conditions, positive behavioural support, emotional literacy) tailored to the needs of the service.
  • Support the development and delivery of individual and group clinical materials, training resources and supervision to junior team members.
  • Co‑facilitate training for NHS employees and partner agency staff to promote evidence‑based practice and service improvement.
  • Maintain high‑standard clinical record keeping, data entry, outcome monitoring and service evaluation reporting in line with Trust policies.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and analysis of audit and research projects to inform service development and contribute to the broader NHS psychology research agenda.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, referral registration, database management and service user feedback collection to support continuous service improvement.
  • Receive regular clinical and professional supervision, engage in continuing professional development and demonstrate professional behaviour consistent with NHS and professional standards.
Team and Collaboration

Work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, National Autistic Society Senior Educational Psychologists and administrative staff within SCAAND and across the national specialist CAMHS network.
