Job summary

A specialist consultancy in safeguarding is seeking a Cadet Safeguarding Support Worker. This role involves promoting the wellbeing and safeguarding of children by working closely with families and multiple agencies. Ideal candidates will have proven child protection experience and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include acting as a point of contact for disclosures, supporting case workers, and managing safeguarding records in compliance with data protection legislation. Overview

Our client is seeking a Safeguarding Support Worker who is suitably qualified and an expert practitioner in safeguarding practice. The successful candidate will be confident in conducting child safeguarding investigations and working collaboratively with multiple agencies, always maintaining a child‑centered approach.

You will work closely with children, families, volunteers, and staff within the Army Cadets, as well as with partner agencies such as social care, education, and law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a child‑centered way, promoting the wellbeing and safeguarding of children above all else.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding disclosures, concerns, and referrals, offering guidance and mentorship to colleagues.
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies and statutory partners, ensuring information is captured, shared, and stored appropriately.
  • Review, process, and update cases within the Online Safeguarding Casework Management System.
  • Present summaries of new referrals in daily triage meetings to collaboratively determine next steps.
  • Maintain full and accurate safeguarding records.
  • Support the submission of referrals to relevant safeguarding bodies (e.g., Disclosure and Barring Service, PVG Scotland, Access Northern Ireland).
  • Provide administrative support to case workers, including arranging meetings, booking travel, and taking minutes.
  • Engage actively in regular supervision and professional development.
  • Comply with all relevant data protection legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, particularly regarding safeguarding casework.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in front‑line child protection or risk assessment involving perpetrators of abuse.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced administrative environment, ideally within organisations such as children’s services, healthcare, law enforcement, or youth‑focused sectors.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legal frameworks and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information.
