Job summary

A leading engineering and technology organization in the nuclear sector is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to work onsite three days a week in Uttoxeter. Responsibilities include supporting the engineering team with CAD tasks, converting legacy files into editable formats, and designing electrical control circuit diagrams. Candidates must have proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and a good understanding of control systems. This position is permanent with a market-related salary.

Qualifications

CAD Technician - Nuclear Sector

Location: Stone, Staffordshire | Type: Permanent | Onsite: 3 days per week | Salary: Market related

VIQU is supporting a leading engineering and technology organisation within the nuclear sector to recruit a skilled CAD Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a highly regulated and innovative environment, working on control systems, electrical hardware design, and instrumentation projects. Please note candidates must be British born and eligible for SC Clearance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the nuclear engineering team with CAD tasks, including drawing modifications and updates.
  • Convert legacy files (PDFs/TIFFs) into editable CAD formats.
  • Design and modify instrument loop drawings and control circuit diagrams.
  • Support the development of electrical hardware systems, primarily using proprietary control panel components.
  • Apply knowledge of control systems and electrical circuits to develop practical technical solutions.
  • Contribute to testing, commissioning, and documentation when required.
Key Requirements
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN.
  • Strong understanding of electrical panels containing PLCs or DCS.
  • Good working knowledge of control, electrical, and instrumentation circuits.
  • Experience developing technical solutions aligned to customer and project requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines under pressure.
Desirable
  • Experience with electrical design, installation, test, or commissioning documentation.
  • Familiarity with BS7671 (IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and IEC BS EN standards.
