Job summary

Solid Talent in London is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to advance a career within a family-run Electrical Design & Build contractor with 30+ years in the UK. You will join an established in-house design team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Produce detailed 2D electrical layouts, switchgear sketches, and lighting diagrams using AutoCAD; support design calculations with Amtech/Trimble; coordinate drawings with PMs and contractors to deliver buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of CAD Technician or drafting experience in UK building services / MEP.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
• Exposure to BIM / Revit, DiaLux, or Amtech/ Trimble is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D electrical layouts, setting-out plans, single-line diagrams, and schematic drawings using AutoCAD.
• Draft drawings for switchgear/distribution, office and lighting diagrams, and power distribution to mechanical plant equipment.
• Assist the team with technical submissions and specialized design calculations using Amtech/Trimble and DiaLux.
• Coordinate drawings, revisions, and technical data across multi-phase installations from pre-construction to handover.
• Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and main contractors to ensure buildable engineering solutions.

Are you a skilled CAD Technician looking to advance your career with a well-established, family-run Electrical Design & Build specialist?

Join an established, highly respected Electrical Design & Build Contractor based in South East London. With a proven track record spanning over 30 years in the UK building services sector, our client specialises in delivering high-end CAT-A and CAT-B commercial workspace fit-outs and complex electrical engineering projects across London’s landmark commercial buildings.

Due to continued project growth, we are looking for a driven CAD Technician / Draughtsperson to join their experienced in-house design team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to

• Produce detailed 2D electrical layouts, setting-out plans, single-line diagrams, and schematic drawings using AutoCAD
  
• Draft drawings for main switchgear/distribution, office and feature lighting, emergency lighting, modular wiring/intelligence systems, and power distribution to mechanical plant equipment
  
• Assist the team with technical submissions and specialized design calculations using industry software (such as Amtech / Trimble and DiaLux)
  
• Coordinate drawings, revisions, and technical data across multi-phase installations from pre-construction phases through to final project handover
  
• Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and main contractors to ensure accurate, buildable engineering solutions
  

Experiences required

• Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a CAD Technician or Drafting role within the UK building services / MEP / electrical contractor sector
  
• High proficiency in AutoCAD is essential
  
• Strong background or working knowledge of electrical engineering / electrical design (candidates with a broader mechanical/MEP background will also be considered)
  
• Exposure to BIM / Revit, DiaLux (lighting design), or Amtech / Trimble (cable calculations) is beneficial, not essential
