Job summary

Barhale is a major civil engineering and infrastructure specialist in the UK, seeking a CAD Technician to design and produce drawings for water and wastewater assets. You will prepare detailed designs, manage drafting from concept to construction, and ensure health and safety compliance.

You should have Level 5 Civil/Structural Engineering qualification and strong AutoCAD/Revit skills, plus proficiency in MS Office 365.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 qualification or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Strong working experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Self-motivated and takes responsibility.
  • Able to accept and deliver constructive challenges.
  • Background experience in a Design Consultancy or Survey Company would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Produce models, drawings and surveys relating to civil and structural design of water and wastewater assets.
  • Prepare, outline and detail designs for projects.
  • Production of technical drawings in AutoCAD and Revit; manage drafting from conceptual to construction.
  • Provide input to pre-construction Health and Safety Plan and related files.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and other disciplines to meet project requirements; participate in project reviews.

The Role

Produce Models, Drawings, and process Surveys relating to the Civil and Structural design of water and wastewater assets.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, outline and detail designs for projects

  • Production of technical drawings in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
  • Process surveys
  • Manage drafting process (conceptual, detailed and for construction)

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Provide input to the pre-construction Health and Safety Plan, including risk assessments, so that it can be prepared and updated at appropriate intervals
  • Provide input to the Designers Health and Safety File and Quality Assurance File and ensure it is reviewed and updated accordingly

Project Management

  • Ensure that the technical content of all work is carried out in accordance with the agreed timescales and budgets
  • Work directly with the supply chain to gather relevant information relating to the technical specification of the project
  • Work closely with team members from other disciplines to ensure the project requirements are met and drive efficient delivery
  • Participate in project reviews relating to design, progress, and construction to receive questions and challenges in a constructive manner

Transformation

  • Proactively research, present and implement innovative new processes and ways of working to optimise output. Examples of this are:
  • Paperless design and construction
  • Using Autodesk BIM 360
  • Developing and using standard designs
  • Exploring the use of other software packages such as Autodesk Dynamo

About you

  • Level 5 qualification or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Strong working experience with Autodesk/AutoCAD/Revit
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office 360
  • Self-motivated and takes responsibly
  • Able to accept and deliver constructive challenges

Background experience of working within a Design Consultancy or Survey Company would be beneficial

  • Concrete specification and design
  • Being able to deal with point cloud surveys
  • Experience in Micro stations or AecoSIM

Structural CAD Technician

The Role
