CAD Engineer – Permanent – £35,000 - £45,000 DOE – Dudley

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with customers and the Sales team to ensure full clarity on all engineering and specification requirements.
  • Generate, check, and release all design and production data, including drawings, specifications, punch press programs, and manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure product quality through effective checking of your own and colleagues' work to eliminate rework.
  • Operate and continuously improve proficiency with the company's CAD/CAM systems, maintaining accurate and secure design records.
  • Optimise material usage and minimise welding processes where possible.
  • Define and document production processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support production teams by developing training materials, self-check procedures, and inspection support to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve design and specification issues promptly, ensuring any concessions are properly recorded.
  • Contribute to cost control, value engineering, and make or buy decisions.
  • Deliver on specific programmes such as product standardisation and process optimisation.
  • Maintain design standards and promote best practices in design engineering.
  • Review and update parameters within automated design and manufacturing systems to reflect current standards and innovations.
  • Collaborate with the Preparation Area team to stay informed about tooling, materials, and machine capabilities.
  • Apply value engineering principles to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • HND or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD (2D) and Radan (2D).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong customer relationships.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication or copper busbar design is advantageous.
