Job summary

Cirrus Logic is recruiting a hardworking CAD Engineer to strengthen the Mixed-Signal CAD team in Edinburgh. You will support EDA/CAD tools for IC design flows and help automate design methods, delivering reports to design groups and customers.

You will work on analogue and mixed-signal design methodologies, collaborate with external tool vendors, and drive improvements while operating in a hybrid Edinburgh office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master, or PhD in Electronic/Computer Engineering or related, with IC design/CAD/EDA experience.
• Deep understanding of analogue or mixed-signal design methodologies.
• Experience with revision control systems (Perforce or SVN).
• Expertise in analogue simulation and parasitic extraction (Cadence OA).
• Experience scripting in Python and SKILL; strong debugging skills.
• Linux/Unix proficiency; ability to collaborate with internal customers.

We have an exceptional opportunity for a hardworking and driven CAD Engineer. You will become a major contributor in our Mixed-Signal CAD team supporting EDA/CAD tools for integrated circuit design flows.

Responsibilities:

• Provide tool and methodology support for design and layout teams.
• Automation and improvement of design engineering flows.
• Deliver reports to design groups and to customers.
• Develop and automate new, existing and sophisticated design methodologies and liaise closely with external tool vendors to drive improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related subject area and/or a validated background in integrated circuit design, CAD/EDA development/support, or software development with a focus on integrated circuit design.
• Deep understanding of analogue or mixed-signal design methodologies.
• Experience with revision control systems such as Perforce or SVN.
• Expertise in analogue simulation, parasitic extraction, Cadence OA.
• Experience scripting preferably including Python and SKILL.
• Demonstrated debug and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of Linux / UNIX.
• Partner and collaborate with the team using strong interpersonal skills while supporting internal customers.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Expert-level knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso Environment, including Spectre/SpectreX simulation environment (Maestro/ADE).
• Experience with Cadence Virtuoso layout editor driving the tool and debugging associated issues.
• Experience with digital simulators (Xcelium).
• Experience setting up Cadence Virtuoso startup scripts, .cdsinit & .cdsenv settings.
• LVS debug & Parasitic Extraction with Calibre or QRC/Quantus.
• Analogue Simulation ‘SOA’ or Safe Operating Area assert generation and verification.
• Experience of PDK setup including DRC/ERC review and sign-off.
• Experience with circuit ERC (PERC or InsightEDA)

This role is based in our Edinburgh office, UK.

This is a hybrid position and will follow a 2+ day in-office work schedule, with in-office days based on business needs and team preference. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic.
