Job summary

Mark Berryman Design is seeking an experienced CAD Draughtsman to join our yacht interior design studio in Pennington. The role focuses on translating design concepts into precise 2D CAD drawings and developing drawings from concept through to detailed design.

You will work closely with interior designers, producing high-quality 2D AutoCAD drawings and ensuring the design intent is clearly communicated to shipyards and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in CAD for interior design or architecture.
• Excellent 2D drafting and detailing skills.
• Strong understanding of interior construction, joinery, materials and detailing.
• Ability to translate concepts into drawing packages.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality 2D AutoCAD design intent drawings for luxury yacht interiors.
• Develop drawings from concepts, GA, and reference imagery and information provided by the design team.
• Prepare detailed plans, elevations, sections and interior details that clearly communicate the intended design.
• Develop bespoke joinery, cabinetry, furniture, ceiling, flooring and architectural details.
• Work closely with interior designers to translate creative concepts into technically coherent drawing packages.
• Review shipyard, contractor and manufacturer drawings against design intent, identifying discrepancies where appropriate.
• Incorporate comments and revisions accurately while maintaining drawing consistency across the project.
• Coordinate drawings with technical information supplied by shipyards, naval architects, suppliers and other consultants.
• Maintain clear drawing standards, naming conventions, revision control and organised project files.
• Help ensure the original design vision is maintained as projects progress through detailed design.

CAD Draughtsman – Yacht Interior Design

About the Role

Mark Berryman Design is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented CAD Draughtsman to join our yacht interior design studio.

Working closely with our interior design team, you'll translate design concepts, layouts and technical information into accurate, well-considered 2D CAD design intent drawings — helping develop our designs from concept through to detailed design, and ensuring the creative intent is clearly communicated to shipyards, contractors, manufacturers and other project stakeholders.

This role suits someone with excellent technical drawing skills and a strong appreciation of interior design, proportion, detailing and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality 2D AutoCAD design intent drawings for luxury yacht interiors.


• Develop drawings from initial concepts, sketches, General Arrangements (GAs), reference imagery and information provided by the design team.


• Prepare detailed plans, elevations, sections and interior details that clearly communicate the intended design.


• Develop bespoke joinery, cabinetry, furniture, ceiling, flooring and architectural details.


• Work closely with interior designers to translate creative concepts into technically coherent drawing packages.


• Review shipyard, contractor and manufacturer drawings against MBD's design intent, identifying discrepancies where appropriate.


• Incorporate comments and revisions accurately while maintaining drawing consistency across the project.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong CAD capability with a good design eye. You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience as a CAD Draughtsman, CAD Technician, Interior Architectural Technician or similar.


• Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD, particularly 2D drafting and detailing.


• Experience producing detailed interior design or architectural drawing packages.


• A strong understanding of interior construction, joinery, materials and detailing.


• The ability to interpret sketches, concepts and technical information and turn them into clear, accurate drawings.


• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to drawing production.


• An understanding of the distinction between design intent drawings and fabrication/construction drawings.


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with designers.


• The ability to manage multiple drawing packages and priorities in a busy studio.


• Experience within superyacht design, luxury residential, hospitality or another high-end interior environment would be particularly beneficial.
