Overview

CAD Designer (with Welding/Fabrication Experience) — Location: Tregynon, Newtown. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Pay: Competitive - dependent on experience.

Mid Wales Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established bespoke fabrication company based in Tregynon, Newtown. We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer with a background in welding or fabrication to join their skilled and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong CAD design skills with hands-on fabrication knowledge and wants to contribute to the production of high-quality, custom-built metalwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce precise 2D and 3D CAD drawings for a variety of bespoke fabrication projects
  • Interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and sketches
  • Work closely with the workshop team to ensure practical, manufacturable designs
  • Revise and update drawings based on production feedback or design changes
  • Assist with project planning, material take-offs, and procurement
  • Apply fabrication/welding expertise to enhance design quality and efficiency
  • Ensure all designs comply with required standards, tolerances, and specifications
Requirements
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Practical experience in welding and/or fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Qualifications in engineering, design, or welding/fabrication
  • Experience with CNC machinery or programming
  • Knowledge of working with a range of metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.)
