Job Title: CAD/CAM Programmer (PowerMill Specialist)
Location: Northampton
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of high-quality plastic components and assemblies, supplying industries from F1 and aerospace to Oil & Gas and healthcare. With a strong reputation for innovation and precision, they are now looking to expand their technical team with an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer proficient in Autodesk PowerMill. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced CNC machining technology on a diverse range of complex bespoke projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, and optimise CNC machining programs using Autodesk PowerMill.
  • Interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to produce accurate and efficient toolpaths.
  • Select tooling, cutting strategies, feeds, and speeds to maximise quality and productivity.
  • Liaise with CNC machinists and engineers to ensure smooth production handover.
  • Maintain accurate CAM program libraries, tooling databases, and technical documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and maintain quality standards.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a CAD/CAM Programmer.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk PowerMill (essential).
  • Good understanding of CNC milling, including multi‑axis programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and a methodical approach.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in plastics machining (preferred, training can be provided).
  • Familiarity with other CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Background in F1, aerospace, or precision manufacturing.
