Job summary

VVB Engineering is seeking a CAD & BIM Technician to produce and coordinate CAD drawings and BIM models for a range of projects in the UK. The role supports project teams and managers, ensuring models, drawings and data align with BIM standards and BEP requirements.

You will contribute to coordinated design information, perform clash detection, and maintain accurate documentation within a federated BIM environment. Collaboration with internal teams and external consultants is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in BIM practices per BS EN ISO-19650 standards.
• Strong 3D modelling and CAD drafting capabilities.
• Experience coordinating across disciplines and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist delivery and coordination of projects from technical design to construction using AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit.
• Provide accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM models and maintain project documentation.
• Apply BIM standards and BEP where applicable; conduct clash detection and coordination reviews.
• Support BIM coordination teams and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain and contribute to the Common Data Environment (CDE) for timely information sharing.
• Participate in quality checks to ensure deliverables meet project information requirements.

Job Summary

The CAD & BIM Technician is responsible for producing and coordinating CAD drawings and BIM models across a range of projects, supporting project teams, coordinators, and managers.

The CAD & BIM Technician is responsible for producing and coordinating CAD drawings and BIM models across a range of projects, supporting project teams, coordinators, and managers. The role includes assisting in the implementation and adherence to BIM standards, ensuring all models, drawings, and data are developed in line with company and project requirements. The technician will contribute to project workflows by maintaining accurate and up-to-date models and documentation, supporting coordination between disciplines, and helping to identify and resolve design clashes.

They will work closely with both internal teams and external consultants, contributing to the effective delivery of coordinated design information and ensuring consistency across all project outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery and coordination of projects from technical design through to construction, utilising Autodesk & Bentley software.
• Ensure effective, accurate and efficient draughting services to all projects. Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
• Support the implementation of best practices and consistent processes across projects, liaising with stakeholders and supply chain partners to maintain quality and consistency.
• Develop and manage 2D and 3D models and associated documentation using industry-standard CAD and BIM tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation & Revit MEP.
• Ensure models are fully coordinated by applying clash detection and avoidance techniques within a federated BIM environment or digital model.
• Produce high-quality 3D models and detailed construction drawings, ensuring alignment with overall project information requirements.
• Develop model geometry and associated data in accordance with project standards, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and relevant information requirements.
• Carry out model reviews, audits, and clash detection prior to submission to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Support BIM coordination and management teams in delivering project outputs and resolving technical issues.
• Maintain and contribute to the Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring accurate, timely, and structured information sharing.
• Participate in quality checks to ensure models and drawings meet required levels of detail, accuracy, and client information requirements.
• Monitor compliance with BIM processes and standards, contributing to reporting on deliverables and project progress.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and coordinated design outputs.
• Support the CAD & BIM function by maintaining and developing internal procedures and workflows in line with the latest industry standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance on CAD & BIM tools and to the wider project team.

Requirements

• Familiarity with BIM standard BS EN ISO-19650 series and UK 1192 standard.
• HNC or HND in Engineering/Design.
• Proficient use of the following Software Packages: AutoCAD, MicroStation (Bentley Systems), Autodesk Revit
• In-depth working knowledge of 3D modelling.
• In-depth knowledge of BIM.
