Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced Cabling Site Supervisor to lead day-to-day supervision of cabling activities across UK projects. You will oversee site operatives, subcontractors and construction tasks, ensuring work is safe, on time and quality standards are met.

Join a team delivering critical energy infrastructure with a focus on Zero Harm culture, continuous improvement and collaboration with Site Engineers, Project Managers and delivery teams.

About the role

Balfour Beatty Power T&D is at the forefront of delivering the UK's critical energy infrastructure, connecting renewable energy sources, strengthening the electricity network and supporting the transition to net zero. We are looking for an experienced Cabling Site Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in the safe and successful delivery of major cable installation projects across the UK.

What you'll be doing

As a Cabling Site Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of site operatives, subcontractors and construction activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.

Working closely with Site Engineers, Project Managers and wider delivery teams, you'll help drive productivity, maintain high quality standards and champion our Zero Harm culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising cabling activities and site teams to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently
  • Leading daily briefings, toolbox talks and workforce coordination activities
  • Implementing and monitoring safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements
  • Ensuring all operatives have the appropriate training, authorisations and PPE
  • Coordinating labour, plant and equipment requirements to support project delivery
  • Monitoring progress against programme and escalating potential issues and risks
  • Maintaining site records, timesheets and workforce documentation
  • Supporting investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Promoting a positive health, safety, environmental and quality culture on site
  • Building effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders
Who we're looking for
Essential
  • Previous experience supervising the delivery of high-voltage cable installation projects, ideally within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector
  • Experience implementing and managing safe systems of work
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements on construction sites
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate and manage site teams to achieve programme objectives
  • Full UK driving licence
  • CSCS Card
  • SSSTS or equivalent supervisory qualification
Desirable
  • Experience working on transmission and distribution projects up to 400kV
  • Knowledge of cable installation, jointing and associated civil works
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and resource management
  • Good understanding of current health and safety legislation
