Job summary

A leading engineering firm is currently looking for a Cable Routing Engineer in Bristol to support engineering projects within the nuclear power sector. The successful candidate will assess design feasibility, provide user feedback on software, communicate updates, and offer training on cable routing. A strong background in nuclear regulations and proficiency in CAD tools is essential. This role provides development opportunities in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the RCC‑E electrical technical regulations.
  • Experience in the nuclear field through education or work.
  • Familiarity with quality processes in nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assess feasibility studies for design changes impacting routing.
  • Provide feedback on routing software and perform troubleshooting.
  • Communicate updates in weekly routing follow‑up meetings.
  • Train staff on cable routing software and discipline.
  • Participate in experience sharing activities from other projects.

Skills

Job description

NRL is currently recruiting a Cable Routing Engineer to join one of our leading clients in their Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high‑performing project team within a critical sector, supporting the delivery of complex engineering works on a key site within the UK’s nuclear fleet.

You’ll work within a highly regulated environment and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient execution of engineering projects. You’ll be supported by experienced professionals and offered development opportunities to grow your project delivery and leadership skills in a respected, forward‑thinking organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Assessing feasibility studies for design changes or open points impacting the routing activity. Perform risk assessments, set mitigation in an event of critical modifications.
  • Provide user feedback concerning the use of the routing software (performance, weakness, troubleshooting…), apply beta testing.
  • Communicating the updates and studies progress to the routing weekly follow‑up meeting, the layout or the management board.
  • Providing training and introduction to the cable routing software and the cable routing discipline, rules and regulations.
  • Participate in experience sharing activities (OPEX shared from other projects assessing any possible integration for HPC).
Qualifications
  • Experience of the RCC‑E electrical technical regulations and the technical reference system (NFC15‑100 / NF C 13‑200 / BS7671 / IEC 60909).
  • Strong knowledge of the nuclear field via educational curriculum or professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the quality processes involved in industrial projects in the nuclear field.
  • Proficient use of CAD tools PDMS/E3D, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
