Cable Design Engineer – Remote UK+ Travel Required

Our client, a respected consultancy within the Transmission and Distribution sector, is seeking an experienced Cable Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

You’ll be responsible for developing, reviewing, and delivering robust cable system designs that form the backbone of the UK’s energy infrastructure. Working as part of a collaborative and technically driven team, you’ll play a key role in advancing projects that support the nation’s transition to Net Zero.

Responsibilities

• Developing detailed designs for cable systems in T&D projects.
• Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for various cable design options.
• Preparing comprehensive technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation.
• Collaborating with project managers and engineering teams to ensure consistency and integration across disciplines.
• Reviewing and approving design drawings, calculations, and reports.
• Visiting project sites to assess design implementation and monitor progress.
• Ensuring all designs meet regulatory, safety, and client‑specific standards.
