C# Software Engineer

Initial 12-month contract

3-4 days onsite per week in Stevenage

Please note, due to the nature of the programme, this role requires a sole British national.

Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled C# Software Engineer to join their team in Stevenage on an initial 12-month contract. The role is pivotal to the development of advanced weapon systems, with a strong focus on simulation technologies, including digital twins and emulators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the development of advanced defence systems from initial concept to in-service support and training.
  • Designing and developing simulation components using C#, C++, and integration simulations, in collaboration with Project Leads and Simulation Architects.
  • Working within a heterogeneous agile development team to develop simulations and representations of real equipment.
  • Implementing software development approaches, including configuration control, continuous integration, continuous delivery/deployment, and unit testing.
Job Requirements
  • Proficiency in C# and C++.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse.
  • Ability to work from a high-level/system view into technical details.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
Non-Essential Skills
  • Experience with distributed simulation standards/protocols (DIS, HLA, DDS) and web services development (JavaScript, Node JS or similar).
  • Understanding of military communications, datalinks, and interfaces such as 1553/1760 and Ethernet TCP/IP.
  • Practical knowledge of system integration principles and processes.
