We are currently delivering a portfolio of projects spanning energy storage, industrial decarbonisation and across the hydrogen value chain.

Your role

Do you enjoy tackling complex engineering problems and applying your expertise across a diverse range of projects? As a Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering solutions that help address the energy trilemma by improving the sustainability, security, and affordability of energy for future generations.

As a C&I Engineer in our Power and Energy Solutions Practice, we are looking for someone versatile; you could be working on several small projects or overseeing several C&I engineers to deliver a multi-discipline project. The role may include:

  • Executing and steering technical delivery of projects (C&I engineering scope).
  • Collaborating with other disciplines on design projects.
  • Managing client relationships.
  • Providing quality technical advice to customers and internal teams.
About you
  • You will enjoy working within multidisciplinary C&I teams and adopting a client-focused approach to project delivery. You will be driven to continuously improve our technical capabilities, engineering quality and project deliverables.
  • Experience across multiple phases of the project lifecycle, including concept studies, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed design, is desirable, together with a proven track record of successful delivery.
  • Operational and maintenance experience, combined with a sound understanding of C&I equipment specification and selection, will also be considered in lieu of specific design experience.
  • You will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be able to demonstrate some or all of the following:
    • Degree qualified in Control Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Chartered Engineer (C Eng) status with a relevant professional institution or actively working towards chartership.
    • Working experience of a wide variety of national and international standards, particularly related to BS, IEC, ISA, and ISO standards.
    • Strong technical writing skills with experience in the development of typical C&I engineering deliverables including philosophies, specifications, datasheets, technical notes, calculations etc.
    • Specification and selection of process instrumentation including flow, temperature, pressure, and level measurement devices, together with control valves, shutdown valves and associated actuated equipment.
    • Experience of DCS, PLC, SCADA and Safety Instrumented Systems across the energy, process, power generation, hydrogen, LNG, or decarbonisation sectors.
    • Development of Operational Technology (OT) systems architectures, control system philosophies, functional specifications, and associated schedules.
    • Knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61508 / 61511), Cyber Security (IEC/ISA 62443), Alarm Management (BS EN 62682 / EEMUA 191).
    • Understanding of hazardous area engineering, explosion protection concepts (BS EN 60079 / ATEX), DSEAR compliance, and Fire & Gas Detection Systems.
