Job summary

Office Angels UK is seeking a Buying & Procurement Coordinator (Engineering) to join our established team in Taunton. You will source stock, manage supplier relationships and support the Group Purchasing Manager to optimise inventory and cost efficiency.

Ideal candidates have a CIPS qualification or equivalent procurement experience, familiarity with ERP/stock systems, and a strong eye for value and delivery performance in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • CIPS qualification or previous procurement/purchasing experience.
  • Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Strong supplier and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to secure best-value purchasing solutions.
  • Confident IT user, with experience of ERP or stock management systems.
  • Good understanding of inventory control and financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Source stock, resale materials and general business supplies, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with approved supplier agreements and procurement frameworks.
  • Review current and future stock requirements, balancing cost, quality and delivery performance while supporting just-in-time inventory practices.
  • Assist in monitoring stock usage and inventory trends, helping to forecast demand and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth purchasing and supply chain operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier agreements, negotiate competitive pricing and maximise value across the supply chain.
  • Track supplier performance against agreed delivery schedules and service standards, taking proactive action to resolve issues.
  • Support inventory management including stock locations, transaction processing, works orders, job costing and BOM administration.
  • Contribute to cycle count and perpetual stock-check programme, ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure all purchasing and stock-related transactions are completed accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Help maintain inventory levels, advising on replenishment, returns and supplier interactions as needed.
  • Assist Group Purchasing Manager with procurement of inventory and non-inventory items, obtaining favorable terms.
  • Support Accounts in resolving supplier invoice queries.
  • Monitor outstanding purchase orders and liaise with suppliers for timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure new products are set up in the system.

Job Title: Buying & Procurement Coordinator (Engineering)


Location: Taunton, Somerset


Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 PA DOE


Hours: Core hours are Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm and early finish on Friday at 1pm

The Company: We are working in partnership with a leading engineering firm who supply products to a range of industries including marine, defence, aerospace, nuclear, utilities and industrial. They are a well renowned company in their field involved with multiple scale projects across the UK. You will be joining an established and knowledgeable down to earth team.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Source stock, resale materials and general business supplies, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with approved supplier agreements and procurement frameworks.

  • Work closely with the Group Purchasing Manager to review current and future stock requirements, balancing cost, quality and delivery performance while supporting just-in-time inventory practices where appropriate.

  • Assist in monitoring stock usage and inventory trends, helping to forecast demand and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet operational requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth purchasing and supply chain operations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier agreements, negotiate competitive pricing and maximise value across the supply chain without compromising on quality or service.

  • Track supplier performance against agreed delivery schedules and service standards, taking proactive action to resolve any issues.

  • Support the effective management of inventory, including stock locations, transaction processing, works orders, job costing and bill of materials administration.

  • Contribute to the delivery of an ongoing cycle count and perpetual stock-check programme, ensuring inventory accuracy at all times.

  • Ensure all purchasing and stock-related transactions are completed accurately and in line with company procedures.

  • Help maintain agreed inventory levels, making recommendations regarding stock replenishment, returns to suppliers and customer returns where required.

  • Assist the Group Purchasing Manager with the procurement of both inventory and non-inventory items across engineering and facilities functions, obtaining the most commercially advantageous terms through close collaboration with key suppliers.

  • Support the Accounts team in resolving supplier invoice queries.

  • Monitor and progress outstanding purchase orders, liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure new products are correctly set up within the inventory system.
