Job summary

PLS Civil Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced, office-based Buyer to support civil engineering projects across the UK. You will source and purchase materials, plant, equipment and subcontract services, ensuring competitive prices and on-time delivery according to project programmes.

The successful candidate will have prior buying experience in civil engineering or related sectors, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook).

Qualifications

• Previous buying or procurement experience within civil engineering, construction, utilities or a related sector.
• Good knowledge of construction materials, plant hire and subcontract procurement.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple orders and changing site priorities.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Experience raising purchase orders and working with accounting or procurement systems.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Negotiate competitive prices, credit terms and delivery arrangements.
• Procure construction materials, hired plant, equipment and subcontract services.
• Raise and manage purchase orders.
• Check orders against quotations, specifications and project requirements.
• Coordinate deliveries with site managers and project teams.
• Monitor outstanding orders and resolve shortages, delays or incorrect deliveries.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

OFFICE-BASED BUYER - CIVIL ENGINEERING

PLS Civil Engineering Ltd is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Buyer to join our team.

This is a full-time, office-based position supporting our civil engineering projects throughout the UK. You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, plant, equipment and subcontract services, ensuring that the business receives competitive prices and that everything is delivered in accordance with project programmes.

Key responsibilities:

• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
