Job Title: Buyer

Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum

Location: Wellingborough

Overview

Our client, a leading manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality and innovation, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their Group Procurement Team based in Wellingborough. This is a key role supporting the smooth and efficient running of the procurement function, ensuring that materials and stock are ordered and managed effectively to support ongoing production.

The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and the Head of Group Procurement to maintain optimal stock levels, manage purchasing activities, and contribute to cost‑saving initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage stock ordering to ensure production runs efficiently.
  • Monitor and adjust stock levels, including supporting perpetual stock counts and analysis.
  • Conduct physical stock takes and generate reports on stock performance, levels, and turns.
  • Prepare and analyse supplier and purchasing performance reports.
  • Use the company’s IT systems to process Bills of Materials and purchase stock.
  • Check order confirmations and resolve supplier queries.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and colleagues to manage consignment stock.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the group on purchasing activities.
  • Represent the purchasing team in daily business performance meetings.
  • Manage customer service issues related to purchasing.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives with the Head of Group Procurement.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the role.
Person Specification
  • A proactive, can‑do attitude with strong organisational skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Buyer role within manufacturing.
  • Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills across multiple business levels.
