Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a dedicated Buyer for a growing clean energy organisation in Loughborough. The role focuses on planning and coordinating production and material supply, with a 6-month contract and onsite, 40hrs/week, early finish Friday.

You will manage MRP, raise purchase orders, expedite deliveries and maintain supplier relationships to keep complex manufacturing projects on track; experience with ERP systems and BOMs is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing or fast-paced environment experience.
• Strong supplier management and expediting skills.
• Experience with Bills of Materials and material requirements.
• Logistics or shipping experience, incl. invoices and shipping docs.
• Exposure to NPI projects.
• Experience using ERP systems (IFS advantageous).
• Excellent communication with suppliers.
• Strong organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in Excel and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Run MRP requirements and convert recommendations into purchase orders.

• Manage supply shortages, delays and escalations to ensure continuity of supply.
• Build strong supplier relationships through regular phone and email communication.

• Maintain accurate ERP data including lead times and supplier information.
• Assist with supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement activities.
• Support inbound shipments and logistics activities where required.
• Contribute to reporting, planning and supply chain process improvements.

Job description

A growing clean energy organisation who develop innovative, high-performance power systems are seeking a Buyer to play an integral role in the planning and coordination of production and material supply activities.

• Role: Buyer
• Duration: 6 month contract
• Pay: Up to 25 p/hr (Inside IR35)
• Location: Loughborough
• Working Pattern: Fully onsite (40hrs - Early finish Friday)

In this role you will manage MRP recommendations, raise purchase orders, monitor supplier commitments and proactively expedite deliveries to minimise supply chain disruption.

Key Responsibilities

• Running MRP requirements and converting recommendations into purchase orders
• Raising, managing and expediting purchase orders to support production demands
• Chasing supplier deliveries and maintaining accurate supplier commitment dates
• Managing supply shortages, delays and escalations to ensure continuity of supply
• Building strong supplier relationships through regular phone and email communication
• Supporting purchasing requirements across Production, Engineering, R&D and Service functions
• Maintaining accurate ERP data including lead times and supplier information
• Assisting with supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement activities
• Supporting inbound shipments and logistics activities where required

You’ll become a key link between suppliers and internal teams including Production, Engineering, R&D, Service, Finance and Logistics, helping ensure complex manufacturing projects stay on track.

With some Bills of Materials containing up to 1,000 components, this is a role for someone who enjoys variety, attention to detail and taking ownership.

Key Requirements

• Experience within a manufacturing or similar fast paced environment
• Strong supplier management and expediting skills
• Experience managing Bills of Materials and material requirements
• Logistics, shipping or export experience (commercial invoices or shipping documentation)
• Exposure to new product introduction (NPI) projects
• Experience using ERP systems (IFS experience would be highly advantageous)
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with suppliers
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Good Excel and reporting capabilities
