• Develop relationships with existing suppliers and source new ones.

ROLE PURPOSE

To source and purchase generic medicines at competitive prices, ensuring quality, availability and timely supply to meet customer needs. The role develops strong supplier relationships and delivers agreed commercial targets, including profit margins, cost savings and supplier rebates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Negotiate the purchase of products and quantities within the Company's portfolio, ensuring they meet specifications and are delivered on time at the most favourable prices.
• Order the right mix of products, including easy and hard lines, to achieve both volume and margin.
• Achieve agreed purchasing and commercial targets, including supplier rebates, discounts, cost savings and profit margins, ensuring rebates are tracked, claimed and received within agreed timescales.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal and external customers to ensure the smooth operation of the purchasing process.
• Maintain up-to-date supplier and customer information and pricing arrangements to secure the most favourable commercial terms for the Company.
• Monitor supplier performance and product standards, including delivery times, quality, quantity and cost.
• Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages and maintain product availability.
• Report significant supply problems promptly, ensuring relevant departments and functions are aware of potential difficulties.
• Develop business relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the market, including price changes, new product launches and other relevant developments.
• Ensure credits due from suppliers and customers are received on time.
• Research new products and identify purchasing opportunities.
• Provide holiday and absence cover in other roles when required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
