Buyer – Maidenhead – Upto £45,000 to £50,000, 5% Bonus and Private Healthcare

Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose electro‑mechanical and electronic equipment based near Maidenhead.

Due to planned expansion and succession planning for the next two to three years, they are actively looking for a Buyer to join the organisation as soon as possible.

Buyer Job Role

To ensure the effective procurement of materials, components, major work packages and services for the Business.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the end‑to‑end supply chain relationship with a specified group of vendors so as to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery and overall supplier reliability.
  • Negotiate and issue purchase orders directed by purchase requisition from planner or MRP action message and in accordance with planned inventory strategies.
  • Review MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled inline with production requirements; review and issue purchase orders and make necessary changes to requirements, schedule and price.
  • Analyse and process supplier notifications.
  • Manage the communication of and expedition of all engineering changes and schedule changes.
  • Be the data owner for all supply master data.
  • Monitor the delivery status of scheduled receipt to ensure on‑time delivery to need.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in a supply chain organisation.
  • Previous experience as a buyer within a manufacturing/engineering company is an advantage.
  • Experience of buying electronic parts, PCBs and sub‑assemblies.
  • Level 4 or Level 5 NVQ or a degree in business, operations, supply chain or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Proficient people skills.
  • Experience of influencing and/or negotiating.
  • Experience of supplier relationship management.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem‑solving, organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Exposure of working in a manufacturing environment desirable.
  • Ability to work to financial and time‑sensitive constraints.
  • Experienced in working within MRP environments.
  • CIPS qualification or studying certification is desirable.
