is working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Leicester. Due to continued growth and increased project demand, the company is seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities across the production and fabrication departments.

Job Description

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and subcontracted services essential to ongoing engineering and manufacturing projects. You will ensure all procurement activity meets company quality, cost and delivery expectations while supporting production schedules and operational targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and purchase materials, components, and services to meet production and project requirements.
  • Evaluate and manage suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Raise purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve any supply chain issues.
  • Work closely with production and project teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in line with company processes.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for improved supplier performance.
  • Ensure materials received meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the procurement and production functions.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role within manufacturing, engineering, or construction.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical information, specifications, or drawings.
