A leading purchasing organization in the UK is seeking a proactive Buyer to manage procurement of mechanical components. This role involves day-to-day purchasing and strategic contributions to procurement decisions. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical buying, robust knowledge of MRP systems, and strong communication skills. A hybrid work model is offered with one day per week at home.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mechanical buying within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and BOMs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience in military or defence sectors is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
  • Interpret BOMs and use MRP systems to plan and execute procurement activities.

Job Title: Buyer

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our clients Team, focusing on the procurement of electro-mechanical assemblies, including PCBs, metalwork, plastic and mechanical components. This is a tactical purchasing role with scope to contribute strategically to long-term procurement planning.

You will be responsible for sending technical drawings to subcontractors and managing the quotation process, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing. An understanding of Bills of Materials and MRP systems is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day purchasing of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
