Butler Job
The private household butler will provide exceptional service and day-to-day operational support within a refined and well-run London residence. The role requires an experienced professional with professional butler training and a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational abilities, and the highest standards for discretion. Acting as a key liaison between the principals, guests, and household staff, the Butler ensures smooth daily operations, impeccable service, and an immaculate household environment always.
Key Responsibilities
Service and Hospitality
- Open and close the property each day, maintaining household security and readiness;
- Review the family’s schedule each morning to plan and prepare for daily service;
- Set up and clear dining areas for meals, ensuring presentation standards are met;
- Serve meals, beverages and refreshments throughout the day with discretion and professionalism;
- Greet and attend to family members and guests, providing a warm, polished and seamless experience;
- Maintain and restock coffee machine, drinks cabinet and snack stations;
- Clear tables, wash or oversee dish washing, and ensure dining and service areas remain pristine;
- Coordinate shopping, deliveries, and household supplies as required;
- Support and assist with evening dinners or special events as needed.
Household Organisation & Maintenance
- Maintain stock of the butler’s pantry, wine cellar and household consumables;
- Polish and care for silver, brass, glassware and other fine service items;
- Replace flowers if requested by principals;
- Conduct regular checks of fridges, cupboards, and pantry areas, ensuring cleanliness and rotation of stock;
- Liaise with the Property Manager regarding contractors, maintenance and repair work;
- Oversee and coordinate care, cleaning and scheduling for the client’s car fleet.
Personal Assistance and Wardrobe Care
- Manage the organisation and care of wardrobes, including clothing maintenance and pressing;
- Clean, polish and refresh shoes, coats and accessories; return items neatly to their designated places;
- Pack and unpack luggage for travel with efficiency and attention to detail;
- Communicate client requests clearly to other household departments;
- Work in close coordination with Personal Assistants to support the Principals’ daily needs.
Requirements
- Formal butler training from a recognised, high-quality institution;
- Proven experience working in a private household environment;
- Demonstrate ability to manage and coordinate teams of housekeepers or other staff;
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Must be a dog lover;
- Excellent discretion, communication skills, and commitment to confidentiality.
Additional Information
- Accommodation: Will consider live-in (in neighbouring accommodation) or live-out arrangements;
- Occasional weekend or evening work may be required for events or family commitments, with notice given.
Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 GPA
